Psychologist / Positive Behaviour Support Coordinator

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist clients and their families to identify individual needs through assessment and planning, developing meaningful goals and practical strategies to meet clients’ needs in their home, school and community
  2. Have explicit knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support principals including functional behaviour assessment, development of behaviour support plans and the implementation processes
  3. Training and supporting colleagues, providers and families to implement Behaviour Support Plans and related strategies
  4. Demonstrated skills and experience of a Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner as outlined in the National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission - Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework 2019 and to maintain suitability to deliver Specialist Behaviour Support under the NDIS
  5. Consult and liaise with clients, hospital and community staff, carers/family members, relevant agencies and government departments, as appropriate to ensure holistic planning and support of the customer
  6. Promoting provider, family and other caregiver involvement through individual and group caregiver and provider training
  7. Providing ongoing coaching for providers and families to implement evidence-based behaviour change strategies
  8. Working in a variety of environments, predominantly community environments, as required
  9. Ensuring KidzWish services maintain best practice and develop the tools to provide positive outcomes for participants

  1. Bachelor or equivalent post-graduate Degree in Psychology (Psychologist only)
  2. Experience working with children on Positive Behaviour Support

  3. Registered with APRHA or other relevant body
  4. Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience in paediatric psychology/ behaviour support
  5. Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision
  6. Current unrestricted NSW drivers license and own vehicle to attend mobile visits (KM allowance provided)
  7. Current NSW working with children’s check and NSW police clearance check.


  1. Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, dual diagnosis

  2. Experience with the NDIS and the Quality an Safeguard Commission - Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework 2019

KidzWish is delivers speech and occupational therapy, support work and assisted programs built on a family centred approach, through individual and group sessions at home, preschool, school and within the community. We provide support workers to assist children with social skills, personal confidence and community participation and offer respite to our KidzWish families.

Our assisted programs are made up of Music and Dance program, Sports Academy, an interactive games session, and parent and sibling support groups.
