There is nowhere else in Australia that events like this happen in one day!
Where do you start in giving thanks to all those who took the time and energy to support the latest and indeed greatest KidzWish Christmas Party for Special Children ever to happen at the WIN Entertainment Centre, followed on the same day by The KidzWish Annual Charity Ball?
Over 4 300 special children and their carers enjoyed ‘5 star entertainment’ for a couple of precious hours last Friday.
It was with pleasure that The KidzWish Foundation delivered a welcome break from the problems that these children and their families deal with every day.
Direct from Las Vegas, the children were in awe when The Electric Horseman appeared, surrounded by lights, riding his trusted quarter horse through the crowd, and as a bonus he helped the KidzWish Fairy find Santa, who delivered presents to all the children who attended.
Willy Wonka complete with his Chocolate Factory, the cast of Hit Movie Madagascar 2, Ronald McDonald and dozens of dancers completed the incredible show.
But none of the above could happen without the support of Sponsors, hundreds of volunteers from businesses, students from Holy Spirit, St Mary’s and TIGS and the incredible staff of The WIN Entertainment Centre who after the children’s party, provide an incredible ‘turnaround’ to host a dinner for over 600 corporate guests and friends.
For the second year, Channel 9, Today Show host Karl Stefanovic, kept the guests entertained at the dinner, with Julia Morris, Figaro and old friend Geoff Harvey and his Big Band.
Dozens of companies and people provided all sorts of assistance, product, media, prizes, music mixes, decorations and so much more, but top of the list is the time local people gave voluntarily, just to make sure that they can be a part of making a difference in the lives of the sick, disabled and disadvantaged who live in the region.
2010 is such a positive year for all of us to look forward to.
The charity now operates from our property KidzWish Place at Shell Cove, and the new year will see us increase our assistance to the special children with much needed programs like therapy services, parent support programs and supported play time.
Thank you all for your valued support, and on behalf of the Directors of The KidzWish Board, Rhianna, Renee, Kim and I, we wish you lots of Love and Laughter this Christmas.
